On November 28, it was revealed that R2-KT, the droid built in honor of Katie Johnson, cosplay costumes for men would make an appearance in The Force Awakens. Albin Johnson, founder of the 501st Legion and father of Katie, had constructed the droid after she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Following Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, its “imagineers” began developing Star Wars-themed expansions to the various Disney theme parks.
