These TV shows disappointing fans thanks to awful final seasons. For this list, we’ll be looking at beloved TV shows that went out on sour notes. Even if a show received a revival some time later, we still considered it here. Since we’re discussing final plot points, a massive spoiler warning is in effect. What's even more baffling about HIMYM's ending is that it wasn't a spur of the moment decision after years of syndication, not like the rest of these. They actually filmed all the kid's scenes at the start of the show to use in the finale, so that horrible ending was planned.
For me:
– Buffy the Vampire Slayer: An emotionally weakened Buffy; an insane Spike; the Potentials; Kennedy; Andrew…most of the humor and heart was (if you'll pardon the pun) sucked out of it.
– Promised Land: The beginning of the 3rd and last season started out so promising…until Denver. Once the family stopped moving around and settled in Denver, everything went wrong, from character inconsistencies to dropped plot points.
– Airwolf: Killing off the entire cast and replacing them with other family members and poor production values (courtesy of the move to Canada) destroyed it. The only good part was the very, very, VERY short reunion between Stringfellow & St. John.
– A-Team & The Powers of Matthew Starr: (OK, so Matthew Starr wasn't a great show, but I liked it.) Both of these shows received a similar fate: the Government taking over, causing the main character(s) to work for them. (Side Note: When "No Ordinary Family" ended the final episode with the government knocking on their door, as much as I liked that show, I hoped there wouldn't be a next season; thankfully, there wasn't.)
Lost was a terrible ending. I sat there looking at the screen going that’s it? That’s all? Nope. 😂
Two shows immediately came to my mind when I thought of "worst final seasons" that I suffered through for shows that I really liked early on: Babylon 5, and Sliders.
Babylon 5 was envisioned from the beginning to be a 5-year show. And it had a series-long story arc that was supposed to build and get resolved at the end of the 5th year. But when it looked like the show might be cancelled after the 4th season, the major story arc was resolved at the end of the 4th season. To me, season 5 seemed like they were just pissing around with a new plot line to fill up the final season. And I didn't find that plot line nearly as interesting.
I thought Sliders had an interesting concept that was perfect for coming up with individual episodes that examined different scenarios that reflected social, political, and historical issues via "what if?" settings. And I thought the 4 main characters that were sliding during season 1 were a good mix. Then the show started doing multiple-episode arcs, and doing episodes that parodied well known films and novels (in sort of a silly way). And one by one, a character was lost and replaced by some new character. By the last season, only one original character was left. I LIKED his character; but he was the character that accidentally got caught up in the sliding, and had no technical expertise in it. And with regard to the two new characters introduced in the last season: The new male character was played by a merely "adequate" actor, and his character was a bit uninteresting and useless. And the new female character was just played by a terrible actress. Furthermore, the last season ended without actually resolving the predicament the sliders had been involved with for the run of the show. … Tragic.

I wasn't that disappointed by Got except for Jamie's story arc kill. They could have done better letting Cersei and Jamie reach the exile and we would have a cool loop.
The reason GOT should’ve been one is that HIMYM writers actually re-wrote the ending whereas GOT writers were proud of that golden shit.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine should be on the list. They completely changed every character for the worse. It is like they decided they hated their own show and audience.
How is it possible that Seinfeld is not on this list?

I hate the fact that HIMYM keeps ending up on these lists.
If you didn't realize the Mother was dead years ago, you weren't paying nearly as much attention as you think you were.
Her death is the reason he was telling the story.
The final season of Orange is the New Black wasn’t my favorite.
Not going to watch the video ( past intro ending at 0:39 ) , Suffice to say ~ I hate the way the original version of Quantum Leap ended . Felt it ended without resolution and without Dr Sam Beckett getting any proper final achievement . Hope that's made up for somewhere within the new series of Quantum Leap . ♑️✍️🇸🇯🇦🇺
HIMYM ending was great. Anyone complaining always need happy endings and everything explained to them in black and white.
Maybe the show has become too forgettable as it gradually declined after season 2, but House of Cards should 100% be on this list. That final season is the worst season of television I've ever witnessed.
